School visits are planned for the morning of the first day of the Congress, January 5, 2009, for delegates. Since there are limited spaces available for the visits, delegates are required to confirm their interest and participation in this at the time of registration for the Congress.
As a part of the school visit, delegates will make a trip to either a Montessori school in Chennai or to one of the government-run (free) schools in the city experimenting with novel ways of reaching out to communities, and ensuring appropriate education to the economically disadvantaged sections. Closer to the dates of the Congress, delegates who register for school visits will be contacted with details of the school that they will be visiting. Delegates will not have the option of choosing the type of school (Montessori or government-run) that they wish to visit.
The cost of the school visit will be Rs. 400 per delegate (which is to be paid along with the registration fee for the Congress) and will include transportation to and from the school in a van. In the van, they will be accompanied by a teacher from the school that they will be visiting.
The delegates who have booked the Congress accommodation package will be picked up from their hotel between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM in the morning and dropped back at their hotel between
11:30 AM and 12 Noon.
The delegates who have not booked the Congress accommodation package will be picked up from Kalakshetra between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM in the morning and dropped back at Kalakshetra between 11:30 AM and 12 Noon.
